Mysore Manjunath and Mysore Nagaraj are among Carnatic music’s leading violinists. Trined principally by their father S. Mahadevappa, they developed a style which they describe as a “blend of emotive appeal, technical mastery and intellectual sophistication with a strict adherence to the classicism”.
They perform in jugalbandi (duet) settings as well as collaborating with a diverse array of musicians both individually and together. On hearing them play, Pandit Ravi Shankar described them as the ‘Princes of Mysore’.
